Basically, I can say from personal experience that the medical care in South Africa and particularly in Jeffreys Bay is very good. The doctors are well trained and friendly. It offers itself to call ahead and make an appointment. Usually you get an appointment the same day. But that was in our family as and when more than one person is the likelihood that someone is sick (colds, fever, Ohrweh, diarrhea, allergic shock, inflammation, …, we had it all) but rather high. We were always helped promptly. The prescribed drugs were designed without any problems immediately to the nearest pharmacy. As a foreigner you pay the doctor directly on the spot in cash or by credit card. It is strongly recommended prior to travel, international travel medical insurance, which then pays any medical expenses and disbursements through a drug reimbursement.
